Local 518 has a membership of 65 Union Members and like Local 514 their jurisdiction is throughout British Columbia. The members' work involves the testing and sampling for the quality of certain products shipped, such as ores and chemical or organic liquid bulk. They also survey vessels for cleanliness to protect the cargo. The Local currently has certifications with IMS Marine Surveyors, ITS Intertek and SGS.
