INDIGENOUS MARINE SCHOLARSHIP
Entry into the BC marine industry is difficult. Many employers require marine safety and watch keeping certification as a condition of employment. To advance a marine career ongoing education is required.
ILWU Canada recognizes First Nations as the first seafarers on our coast. In recognition of this fact the Union seeks to assist in breaking down barriers for entry into the marine industry. The ILWU 400, Marine Section Union Development Fund provides two annual scholarships for BC First Nations students wishing to enter the marine industry.
