United Way launched our United for BC Flood Response Fund – can you help out?
The floods and mudslides that have been affecting our province this week are truly devastating to communities. People are being evacuated from their homes and thousands of people are stranded away from their homes. There are food shortages around the province, limited transportation in and out of devastated communities, and a lot of people are struggling with the possibility that their homes and communities are damaged beyond recognition. And on top of this, we’re navigating all of this during an ongoing pandemic.
Earlier today United Way British Columbia launched our United for BC Flood Response Fund, and I am asking ILWU Canada members and casuals to offer financial support so that United Way BC can raise dollars that will address important social needs like shelter, food assistance, trauma and mental health supports, and the rebuilding social infrastructure.
