Notice of Dispute – March 20, 2023

 In News

The ILWU Canada Bargaining Committee has filed a Notice of Dispute with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. ILWU Canada is taking this action because there has been no meaningful progress with the BCMEA in discussions to renew the Industry Collective Agreement.

By filing a Notice of Dispute, the ILWU Longshore Bargaining Committee is seeking to have the Minister of Labour appoint a conciliation officer, to assist the parties. This is the same process that the parties used in the last round of bargaining.

The conciliation period lasts for at least 60 days unless extended by mutual agreement. Members and casuals will continue to work as usual, in a professional and safe manner as always. Please do not react to any provocations that may arise in the workplace from the Employers instead contact your Local Officers immediately. We will keep you advised of any progress during the Conciliation process.

On behalf of your Negotiating Committee

In Strength and Solidarity
